Vasectomy

A vasectomy is a surgical procedure that involves tying or cutting the vas deferens, the ducts through which sperm leave the testicles, so that ejaculate will no longer contain sperm. This method of contraception is also known as male sterilization and is one of the most effective methods of contraception.

Indications for vasectomy:

  • A man's desire to have a permanent method of contraception.
  • High risks during pregnancy for the partner due to certain medical conditions or medical
  • contraindications to pregnancy.
  • Lack of desire to have children in the future.
  • Carrying severe genetic diseases that can be transmitted to offspring.
  • Inability to use other methods of contraception.

Before deciding on a vasectomy, it is recommended to consult a doctor to discuss all possible indications and individual circumstances.

Benefits of vasectomy in IVMED

  • high professionalism of the medical staff;
  • the latest technologies and only effective treatment methods;
  • comfortable living conditions and psychological support.

How is a vasectomy performed?

The most common method of vasectomy:
is traditional - the surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, isolates the vas deferens and opens or ties them, then sutures and closes the wound with a sterile dressing.

The operation lasts about 30 minutes.

Vasectomy is performed mainly under local anesthesia or intravenous anesthesia (medication sleep). Thanks to this, no hospitalization is required and the patient can leave the clinic in 2-3 hours.

Recovery after vasectomy

After the surgery, a mild swelling of the scrotum and a feeling of discomfort in the perineal area may occur for several days. It is considered normal to see blood impurities in the semen after the intervention.

We recommend it for easy and quick rehabilitation:

  • follow all doctor's prescriptions before and after surgery;
  • maintain personal hygiene;
  • use underwear made of natural fabrics.

It is important to understand that this operation does not affect a man's ability to ejaculate or potency. It also does not disrupt the function of the testicles, which allows for the reverse procedure.
However, it should be noted that this procedure is quite complex, and the restoration of fertility cannot be guaranteed.
On average, the ejaculate does not contain sperm after 15-25 ejaculations after a vasectomy, so additional contraceptive methods should be used during this period. It is also recommended to take a spermogram to make sure that there are no sperm in the ejaculate.
