Modern reproductive medicine offers unique methods of preserving the possibility of conceiving a healthy child by effectively freezing germ cells, embryos, or even individual organs of the reproductive system, such as ovarian tissue.
What are the types of ovarian tissue cryopreservation?
1. Removal and cryofreezing of 50% of the ovarian body with the possibility of further transplantation on a vascular "leg" after the treatment of a concomitant disease (e.g. cancer). This technique is the most effective because it eliminates follicle loss due to tissue ischemia.
2. Multiple sampling and freezing of individual fragments of the ovary (cortical substance) with a size of about 5 mm cube. with the possibility of transplantation into a healthy ovary.
Increasingly, this technique is being offered to women undergoing long-term treatment for cancer, which imposes a certain risk of reproductive system dysfunction.
The main advantage of ovarian tissue cryopreservation is that if the treatment of the disease has led to infertility, the patient still has the opportunity to become pregnant with her own cells thanks to the preserved ovarian tissue.
The IVMED clinic uses the Cryotissue vitrification system, which allows:
Vitrification is a method of rapid tissue freezing.
The main goal of ovarian tissue cryopreservation, its preservation, subsequent thawing, egg extraction from follicles and embryo cultivation is to preserve female fertility in patients with premature ovarian exhaustion syndrome or other diseases of the reproductive system.
1996 - the first procedure of cryopreservation of ovarian tissue was performed.
In 40% of women who have undergone chemotherapy, the reproductive system functions are restored after cryopreservation of ovarian tissue.
64% of women fully restore their reproductive function after cryopreservation.
Natural growth of follicles is observed after the effect of sex hormones on the woman's body after transplantation of thawed ovarian tissue
