NHS program at IVMED clinic
The state provides an opportunity for military personnel and other persons performing duties for the defense of the state, protection of the homeland and other duties assigned to them to store reproductive cells (sperm and eggs) free of charge under the NHSU program.
This will allow defenders to retain the ability to have children in the future, even if their reproductive function is lost.
This procedure is efficient and is paid for by the state in full in accordance with the list of services approved by the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 78 of January 24, 2025.

Why do defenders need cryopreservation of reproductive cells?
Service in the defense of the state and homeland, especially in combat, carries significant health risks, including the potential loss or damage to reproductive function in both men and women.
Injury, exposure to harmful environmental factors, or stress can make natural parenthood impossible or significantly more difficult in the future. That is why cryopreservation of one’s own reproductive cells (sperm and eggs) becomes an extremely important option.
This service allows you to create a kind of “biological safe” that guarantees the preservation of the chance to have a genetically related child in unforeseen life circumstances, giving our Defenders peace of mind about their future parenthood.
Who is eligible to use the reproductive cell preservation program?
This program is intended for military personnel and other persons performing duties of state defense, homeland defense and other duties assigned to them aged 18-45.
The list includes involvement in the program:
- servicemen of the Armed Forces, other military formations and special purpose law enforcement agencies established in accordance with the laws, state special purpose agencies with law enforcement functions, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the intelligence agency of the Ministry of Defense, the State Border Guard Service, the State Special Communications Service, who are on military service in Ukraine, and servicemen of the said military formations, law enforcement and intelligence agencies who are citizens of Ukraine and perform military duty outside Ukraine;
- rank-and-file and senior officers of the State Emergency Service, senior officers of the Special Operations Department of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, rank-and-file and senior officers of the State Criminal Executive Service who are directly involved in hostilities or ensure the implementation of measures for national security and defense, repulsion and deterrence of armed aggression;
- police officers who are directly involved in hostilities or ensure the implementation of measures for national security and defense, repulsion and deterrence of armed aggression, or perform their official tasks in areas of military (combat) operations.
What services are provided under the NHS program for defenders?
IVMED Clinic is a medical institution that provides reproductive cell preservation services for defenders under the state program. We provide a full cycle:
- Conducting counseling and examination of male or female patients
- Collection and cryopreservation of biological material (reproductive cells)
- Storage of cryopreserved biological material (reproductive cells)
Cryopreservation is a modern procedure that allows you to store biomaterial for a long period of time frozen at a temperature of -196 ° Celsius. All biological processes stop in the cells that are in the process of freezing, so their life cycle stops for a certain period of time.
In case of fertility loss, this material can be used for in vitro fertilization in the future.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution No. 78 of January 24, 2025, the state finances free storage of reproductive cells (sperm and eggs) for defenders. There are no additional costs.

Thus, the NHSU program provides for the possibility of cryopreservation of both male (sperm) and female (eggs) reproductive cells. It should be noted that the process of egg collection is more complicated and requires preliminary hormonal preparation (stimulation of superovulation).
The state pays for the storage of reproductive cells for three years. Later, the biological material is utilized or its storage is paid for privately.
Modern technologies ensure high cell survival after thawing. On average, the success rate of IVF with frozen material can range from 50% to 70%, depending on individual factors.
