The Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation "Genetic Initiative Reproduction."
During the conference session, experienced experts in reproductive genetics highlighted the problems of diagnosing genetic abnormalities in patients diagnosed with infertility, including infertility of unclear genesis, as well as the latest approaches to identifying the causes that may be the main factors in the inability to obtain healthy embryos or their successful implantation, as well as to successfully carry a child.
Oleksandra Kashevarova, Head of the Cytogenetic Laboratory, presented a report on “Genetic Problems of Male Infertility“, which focused on the correlation between the problem of infertility in men and the presence of chromosomal aberrations, deletions of the Y chromosome, and mutations of cystic fibrosis genes in 15-20% of cases. These chromosomal abnormalities cause obstructive azoospermia, which manifests itself in impaired or blocked spermatogenesis.
The correct diagnostic strategy and timely identification of these causes are crucial for the management of patients by a fertility specialist. Oleksandra’s research on the use of testicular biopsy material using the TEZE/PEZE methods in patients with obstructive azoospermia has shown high efficiency in IVF cycles, while the use of biopsy material in patients with non-obstructive azoospermia in IVF cycles is almost ineffective.
