{"id":33332,"date":"2024-04-07T19:26:59","date_gmt":"2024-04-07T16:26:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ivmed.ua\/vagitnist\/comprehensive-biochemical-screening-in-the-first-trimester-of-pregnancy\/"},"modified":"2025-01-17T15:01:33","modified_gmt":"2025-01-17T13:01:33","slug":"comprehensive-biochemical-screening-in-the-first-trimester-of-pregnancy","status":"publish","type":"vagitnist","link":"https:\/\/ivmed.ua\/en\/vagitnist\/comprehensive-biochemical-screening-in-the-first-trimester-of-pregnancy\/","title":{"rendered":"Comprehensive biochemical screening in the first trimester of pregnancy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Comprehensive diagnostics of the expectant mother&#8217;s body at an early stage of gestation.<\/p>\n\n<p>It includes diagnostic procedures that allow you to assess the speed of intrauterine development of the baby by comparing the gestational age according to the protocols of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>first trimester <\/strong>lasts from the 1st day of the final menstruation to the 13th week.<\/p>\n\n<p>In medicine, <strong>screening <\/strong>means &#8220;sorting, selection&#8221; and in English means identifying risk groups of pregnant patients who may be indicated for additional testing.<\/p>\n\n<p>Screening is performed on weeks <strong>11-13 + 6<\/strong> of pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The first stage is fetal ultrasound.  <\/h2>\n\n<p>It gives the obstetrician-gynecologist the opportunity to establish the risk of developing possible abnormalities, identify a predisposition to genetic diseases, and draw up a general picture of the health of the expectant mother.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the study, specialists carefully examine the morphological parameters of the fetus in comparison with their current gestational age. The doctor also measures the length of the cervix.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>2 methods of ultrasound diagnostics of the first trimester:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>transabdominally (through the abdomen)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>transvaginally (insertion of the transducer into the vagina).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>6 anthropometric parameters of the fetus are since the reference values depend on the gestational age.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HCG chorionic gonadotropin is a hormone produced in amniotic fluid that is used to diagnose pregnancy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PAPP-A protein-A is a protein produced by the placenta, which is responsible for the normal functioning of the latter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 biochemical blood test are as objective as possible, doctors strongly recommend following the preparation recommendations:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dietary regimen: exclude chocolate products, seafood and citrus fruits, fried and fatty foods from the diet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is not recommended to eat 12 hours before the biochemical blood test.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When performing transabdominal ultrasound, it is necessary to fill the
